Mt. Airy CDC Statement Re: COVID-19

MARCH 13, 2020

With an abundance of caution and in the interest of doing our part to protect our staff, clients, and neighbors from the ongoing spread of COVID-19, Mt. Airy CDC staff will be working from home and all our public events are cancelled until further notice. Regarding specific program areas, please read on.

HOUSING COUNSELING
First Time Homebuyer Workshops have been suspended — in person. We are currently determining how we can facilitate the workshops online, e.g. via webinar. Everyone who has registered for a workshop will be honored, and the online workshop will still count toward your certification. One-on-one sessions will be conducted remotely via telephone or video chat.

GO MT. AIRY BUSINESS EXPO
The Go Mt. Airy Business Expo, originally scheduled for Saturday, March 28th, has been postponed. We will reschedule the event when it is appropriate to do so.

PHILLYiHUB
The PhillyiHub cohort scheduled to begin on Tuesday, March 31st has been postponed to Tuesday, May 26th, pending further guidance from the City of Philadelphia. All accepted applications will be honored.

LOVETT PARK PROGRAMMING
Our events at Lovett Park are currently on hold, including Go Mt. Airy Markets (formerly Monday Market). However, you may still submit your organization’s event proposals HERE, and they will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and within the guidelines of the Philadelphia Department of Public Health.

SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS
Your local shops, restaurants, and service providers are open for business. We’ve spoken with over two dozen business owners and nearly all have reported a drop in sales. Keep supporting them by making purchases, even if it’s only to call ahead to pick up a product or ordering a gift card.

We will send updates as they are available. Be well, be safe, and wash your hands!

Sincerely,
Mt. Airy CDC
