Moonlight Movies

Mt. Airy CDC is hosting a single Moonlight Movie for the 2026 season, and it’s a special one: Wicked 2: For Good.

This family-friendly musical fantasy film once again stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande as Elphaba and Glinda. Set about a year after the first film, Elphaba fully embraces her forced role as the “Wicked Witch of the West” to protect animals and expose the Wizard as a fraud. Meanwhile Glinda becomes the beloved, optimistic public spokesperson for the Wizard’s regime and Madame Morrible’s propaganda machine.

The movie begins at sunset (it needs to be dark to see the screen!), so start time is approximately 7:30 pm. We invite the community to join us for a free screening of the film along with family yoga beforehand by Jennifer’s Leaf Yoga starting at 7 pm. The snack shack will be open and vending hot dogs, popcorn, soft pretzels, water ice, and bottled water. Feel free to bring your own refreshments as well a blanket or a lawn chair, and let’s make a night of it!

Please note: The film is rated PG, with a run time of 2 hrs and 17 minutes. Common Sense Media recommends it for kids ages 11 and above.

• Friday, September 25 at 7 pm: Wicked For Good (2025) @ Mt. Airy Playground (7001 Germantown Ave). Park on Germantown Ave. and walk up the steps from street level, or park on W. Sedgwick St. and reach the playground via a ramp.
