Greetings friends and neighbors, say hello to the Go Mt. Airy Card!

Before the pandemic set in, our friends at the Chestnut Hill Local reached out to us to share an idea they had: To bring a print newspaper with hyperlocal stories back to Mt. Airy. At the same time, we were exploring ways to create an annual membership that would support our organization, and in return, provide its members with value of local interest. Together, we’ve created the Go Mt. Airy Card: a program that will support both organizations, bring you weekly local news, and get you a goodie bag of Go Mt. Airy stuff.

An annual membership — $99 for individuals and $150 for families — comes with the following perks:

  • An annual subscription to the brand new Mt. Airy Local paper, published on Thursdays, and a login for the website to use at any time
  • A digital Go Mt. Airy Card that includes a monthly rotation of features and specials from the Go Mt. Airy Business Association, available only through the digital card
  • A goodie bag of Go Mt. Airy swag, including updated t-shirts for 2020, a coffee mug, and stickers
  • First access to Go Mt. Airy neighborhood events (when they return)
Get a Go Mt. Airy Card and get a yearlong subscription to Mt. Airy’s new hyperlocal paper!

The membership also supports Mt. Airy CDC’s program areas including: Housing Counseling, which hosts over 40 workshops for first-time homebuyers each year; Business Services, which supports local businesses through the Go Mt. Airy Business Association and the PhillyiHub business training program; Schools & Literacy, which has just launched the three-year Literacy-Rich Neighborhood initiative and includes ongoing partnerships in the Mt. Airy Schools Coalition; Public Spaces, which includes oversight of the Lovett Park space and investment in the City’s Rebuild program at two sites in Northwest Philadelphia; and, when they return, Public Events like Go Mt. Airy Markets at Lovett Park, Moonlight Movies, Autumn on the Avenue, and Supper Sessions on the Avenue.

Community-centric news

The Mt. Airy Local paper will feel extremely familiar, as it will provide a Mt. Airy flavor to the existing Chestnut Hill Local publication. In addition to Mt. Airy-centric news, ours will also include content created specifically by Mt. Airy CDC and our community partners, as well as a community calendar drawing from our partner organizations East Mt. Airy Neighbors (EMAN), West Mt. Airy Neighbors (WMAN), Mt. Airy Business Improvement District (BID), and lots of others.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to try something new in such an unusual year. We’re also grateful to the Chestnut Hill Hospital for supporting us in this endeavor, and for their support of the Northwest Philly community in general.

We hope this program gives you something to look forward to. We also hope you can join soon to ensure delivery of your goodies in time for the holidays. (If you join by December 7th, we expect everything will be delivered by Christmas.)
