Introducing… The Go Mt Airy Store! The first round of what we hope will be a regularly-updated inventory has been posted.
This first round of items features four designs that scream both “I love the 90s” and “I love Mt. Airy.” Two t-shirts riff off of popular TV shows from that era, one harkens back to Art Jam ’97, which Mt. Airy CDC, (then called Mt. Airy USA) produced with the PA Council on the Arts and other local businesses, and then there’s the tote bag.
The new “Mount Airy Philadelphia” tote makes new use of the colorful design longtime Mt. Airy resident and Philadelphia City Planner David Schaaf created in 1994. Dave also created the hand-drawn map of Mt. Airy you see in lots of local businesses and which Weavers Way Across the Way sells; it’s so popular it’s now on its third printing! The “Mount Airy Philadelphia” design was created as a promotional initiative for local businesses, and the enameled metal signs were sponsored by Acme. “It delights me that this design has come around full circle to support local businesses again, 27 years later,” he said.
Purchases of the tote bags will support the Go Mt Airy Business Association, and general purchases throughout the store will support Mt. Airy CDC’s mission to uplift the Mt. Airy community through housing counseling, small business support, literacy initiatives, and public events (when we can have them).
The store is powered by Bonfire, an online fulfillment platform that supports nonprofits like ours. We’re aiming to add new products a few times a year, so be sure to check back often.
And don’t forget, you can get our popular “Mt. Airy Mount Airy” t-shirt with your purchase of a Go Mt Airy Card, which also includes a yearlong subscription to the Mt. Airy Local newspaper, a Go Mt Airy mug and sticker, and a digital membership card that also supports local businesses.
