Root & Branch Bodywork opened its doors on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2025, at 6618 Germantown Ave. in Mt. Airy. An integrative wellness space, Root & Branch Bodywork focuses on mindful movement and offers massage and personal training. As a bodyworker and massage therapist, owner Kaitlin Frady’s goal is to help clients connect or reconnect with physical activities that bring them joy.
Her one-on-one work with clients is supported by a range of group classes from chair yoga to handstands and contortion that will take place in the two movement studios at her new location on Germantown Ave.
Kaitlin is a former aerialist who trained as a circus artist-athlete at the New England Center for Circus Arts. She was inspired to start her business because of the injuries and issues she experienced while performing, which led her to sports massage and physical therapy. She is a licensed massage therapist, a licensed physical therapy assistant (PTA), and a certified strength and conditioning specialist who additionally works as a coach at the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts (PSCA) on Greene Street.
Kaitlin first opened her business in 2022 and was formerly operating out of a third floor walkup on Walnut Lane in Germantown. She is excited about the accessibility of her new space at 6618 Germantown Ave. (which has an ADA accessible entrance ramp) and its storefront on the busy commercial corridor along with small business neighbors like Downtime Bakery, Pax Flora Goods, and more.
Root & Branch Bodywork joins the aforementioned businesses as an occupant of the Mt. Airy CDC-owned Winston Commons. This historic 19th century building is one of Mt. Airy CDC’s defining revitalization projects. It was renovated in 2005 to incubate compelling small businesses like these and enliven the Germantown Avenue commercial corridor. The CDC is delighted to welcome Root & Branch Bodywork to this burgeoning section of the Avenue.
Kaitlin came to Mt. Airy from New Orleans in 2018 to train with PSCA and says she quickly “fell in love with the funky, crunchy culture of Mt. Airy and its green spaces.” Interested clients can book both bodywork appointments and group classes via the website at https://www.rootandbranchbodywork.com/.
