Dear Mt. Airy Community:

We are writing today with some important news from our organization. Brad Copeland, Mt. Airy CDC’s Executive Director, has resigned to assume a new position with PPS Properties. His last day is today, May 14, 2021. While we will deeply miss Brad, we recognize that this is an exciting opportunity for him and one that he is uniquely qualified for.

We are pleased to further announce that Sarajane Blair, Mt. Airy CDC’s current Director of Strategic Initiatives, has agreed to serve as Interim Executive Director while the organization undertakes a more formal search process for a permanent Executive Director. We are fortunate to have Sarajane’s skills and six years experience with Mt. Airy CDC to lead us through this transition. The existing management team of Sarajane, Managing Director Sharon Kim, and Director of Housing Counseling Stephanie Butler will remain in place. Likewise, all existing programs and projects will continue without interruption with current staff in place.

During Brad’s leadership, Mt. Airy CDC initiated a number of programs including the development and completion of the Wissahickon Charter School’s Awbury campus, the implementation of Pennsylvania’s Act 135 to transform and renovate blighted properties, the launch of the PhillyiHub program, the opening of the Work Mt. Airy coworking space, the renovation and activation of Lovett Park, the Supper Sessions on the Avenue festival, and enrollment in the City’s Rebuild program whose goals include both making improvements to public recreation centers and promoting diversity and economic inclusion in that process.

Mt. Airy CDC is thankful for Brad’s many contributions to the organization, which is in a stronger position now due to his leadership and unwavering commitment. We wish him continued success in his next venture as Chief Executive Officer at PPS Properties and beyond.

We feel confident that during this transition Mt. Airy CDC will function as it always does, on a very high level. We are continually impressed and appreciative of our staff who work tirelessly and creatively to serve the greater Mt. Airy community.

If you have questions about Mt. Airy CDC’s operations during this interim period, please reach out to Sarajane Blair at sblair@mtairycdc.org.

Thank you again for your continued support!

Sincerely,

Ashley Via Maass, President
On behalf of the Board of Directors of Mt. Airy CDC
